Redbirds fall to Marquette 3-0 in state soccer semifinal

The De Pere Redbird Soccer team has faced a lot of adversity this year, and on Thursday, Nov. 4, they headed to Milwaukee to face off against Marquette University for a state semifinal.

The Birds were coming out on defense for the first 20 minutes and never really saw the ball on their side. Goalie Evan Engel had a great game with 10 shots saved but Marquette did eventually score a yellow card penalty kick.

With the game at 1-0 at the 26th minute and the half almost over, De Pere pushed it to the other side and shot but the Redbirds did not score.

Towards the end of the half, Marquette scored and made it 2-0 in the 28th minute before half.

As they switched sides in the 49th minute, Marquette scored another goal to make the score 3-0. As the game went on, De Pere could not catch a break with a yellow card on Kevin Ramirez.

Not a great ending for this great De Pere team, but they faced a lot of adversity and proved a lot of doubters wrong.
