Emily Martin is a new choir teacher, and she co-teaches music theory. She works at both DPHS and Fox View, traveling between the two schools. She started teaching this year.
Q: What are your past experiences with teaching?
A: It’s my first year as an officially hired teacher. I subbed at Howard Suamico District and student taught at DPHS last year.
Q: Did you do any high school/college activities, if so what were they?
A: I did band and choir in high school. In college I was involved with music activities: Bell choir, flute choir, and wind ensemble. I was a triple-certified music major, doing flute and voice at the same time. I also was in the NAFME (National Association for Music Educators).
Q: Outside of music, what are your hobbies?
A: I like to crochet. I would make blankets. I’m generally a crafty person.
Q: What high school or college jobs did you have?
A: I didn’t have a high school job, but I worked at the Emmaus Center in college.
Q: How do you like traveling between DPHS and Foxview?
A: I really like it. I wasn’t sure about the traveling aspect, but everyone at both schools is supportive.
Q: How has the year gone for you so far?
A: It’s been fantastic. I love the students.
Q: What made you want to become a teacher here at DPHS?
A: I always liked music and the idea of being a teacher, so when I went to college, it made sense to teach others about my love of music.
