Q: Do you have any past teaching experiences? If so, what were they?
A: I student taught here in the spring of 2023 for Mr. Winchester. And then last year I was a long term substitute teacher for Mr. Hendzel. And I was a priority sub for the social studies department so anytime any of the teachers in the social studies department were gone I was the substitute teacher.
Q: Has history always been your favorite subject?
A: Yes, forever. I took AP US History my sophomore year of high school, I took AP World History my junior year of high school, I passed both of those AP exams, and I went into college as a psychology major, but I switched that in my first semester, so it did not last long. History has always been my favorite.
Q: Why did you choose to teach high school students?
A: I think that my personality is better suited for high school kids. I think that I can talk to them easier and I think that it is easier for them to talk to me.
Q: Why did you want to become a teacher?
A: I love history but I hated high school. I hated it so much, I was truant my junior and senior year of high school. I wanted to become a teacher so that I could actually have my kids have enjoyable experiences because I did not have an enjoyable high school experience.
Q: Has it always been your dream job?
A: I wanted to be a teacher when I was young. It was always in the back of my head but I was never like “Teaching is my passion”. But then when I was in high school I wanted to be a criminal psychologist for a bit and then when I got into college and I started taking psychology classes it was not my favorite. So I decided I should do something that I enjoy doing. And I love history and I think that I do well with high schoolers.
Q: What qualities do you think you bring to the staff and school?
A: I am younger than most of the teachers in the school so I think that it is just a whole other personality that I bring to the table. I never take things too seriously, so I always try to keep my class, talking to students, and talking to my coworkers pretty light-hearted because I do not think that it’s too fun to be too serious.
Q: Where did you go to high school and college?
A: I went to Green Bay Southwest for high school and then for college I went to Winona State University.
Q: What activities did you do in high school?
A: I was the varsity captain of my softball team in high school. I was in Spanish Club in high school. Besides that I was not actually in Student Council but a lot of my friends were so I did a lot of the Student Council things like assemblies, teacher appreciation day, the student section, those kinds of things.
Q: Did you have a job in high school?
A: I worked at a grocery store for four years from when I was freshly 16 through my first two years of college. I was a counter person.
