Mr. Abel is a woodshop teacher that has real world experience that has so far brought experience to the woodshops helping all kinds of kids. He gives them his experience as a carpenter, helping them build all kinds of things like house walls and – same as every year – clocks.
Q: What are your past teaching experiences?
A: Last year I was at Seymour High School. Before that, I was at Algoma Middle School for 11 years.
Q: Has tech ed always been your favorite subject?
A: Tech ed, history and math were my favorites.
Q: How is the school year going?
A: It’s going really well. Kids are good.
Q: Why high school? What do you like about kids this age? Did you ever teach other ages?
A: High school kids understand what I teach best.
Q: Why did you want to become a teacher?
A: I had to make a switch in work due to a failing economy, but I always thought about teaching tech ed.
Q: Did you always want to be a teacher, or did you have another profession in mind when you were in high school?
A: I always wanted to be a teacher, but I didn’t pursue it right away.
Q: What qualities do you feel like you bring to the staff and school?
A: My different background is able to bring real world ideas and solutions. I help them see why we can or can’t do something.

A: Abe Allen.
Q: Where did you go to high school? College?
A: Seymour and UW-Platteville.
Q: What activities did you do in high school?
A: I played football and power lifted.
Q: Were you a good student?
A: I got good grades.
Q: Did you have jobs when you were in high school?
A: Yes, I usually worked for neighbors, but I never worked for big companies.
Q: What are your hobbies? Do you have interests outside of school?
A: Mostly outdoor activities like hunting.
