Nest is a time of week where De Pere High School students get an opportunity to learn the safeties and events in our school.
Nest has been on Mondays until this year. This has left students with a big change and teachers more of an opportunity to get more prepared for the Nest time.
Well, why did the administration move Nest to Wednesdays?
According to Mr. Thielhelm, our school’s allies and health team had figured that many teachers were unprepared for classes when it was on Mondays.
The allies and health team decided to do a survey on students and staff on what day the students should have Nest besides Monday. Thielhelm said that there are things like the state requirement SEL (Socially Emotional Learning Components), for example, that the staff needs to work on for Nest.
“Nest builds relationships and teaches others how to be safe,” Thielhelm said. “Having relationships with students and the SEL arrangement helps De Pere.”
Does this help students more efficiently now that Nest was moved to Wednesday? There isn’t a full answer yet.
“Too early, but it will definitely be a change,” Thielhelm said.
Thielhelm also said that the administration will be using Nest to discuss topics with the students directly.
“One thing that we started this year is a town hall meeting,” Thielhelm said. “It’s a way for our admin team to have some facetime with the entire student body and if there are communications that we need to center, we will do so.”
