A fizzy revolution is brewing on the east side of Green Bay, promising to shake up the local beverage scene with a pop of nostalgia and a splash of trendy flavor. The highly anticipated Soda Bar has finally opened a new location at 1960 Main St., just off of East Mason St. in Green Bay.
Soda Bar is a modern, customizable drink shop, often specializing in “dirty sodas,” where customers can mix name-brand sodas (like Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, etc.) with flavored syrups, creams, (half and half, coconut cream), purees and other additions like fruit or candy to create unique non-alcoholic beverages, with options for sugar-free bases and custom energy drinks.
Although the concept of a soda bar is a relatively new one, students at De Pere High School have been quick to embrace the new soda bar location in Green Bay, with several students applying to become some of the Soda Bar’s first employees.
Sophomore Lexi Drewieske, who was recently hired by the Soda Bar, was very excited to have the opportunity after having enjoyed her previous experiences as a customer at the Appleton location.
“I love it so much… and when I heard that they were bringing one to Green Bay, I was so excited… it seemed like an easy job, like you’re just making soda… so that’s why I was interested,” Lexi explained.
Lexi believes that the Soda Bar will provide an enjoyable and unique experience to both customers and staff alike and she is very excited to start working alongside her friends at her new job.
“It’s just like a really unique place to work, and I love their soda,” she said. “ I have so many friends that I work with, I literally know like five people I’ll be working with.” Lexi said.
Sophomore Zach Nelson was also quick to express interest in the opportunity to work at the Soda Bar and expressed excitement when asked about the opportunity to work with friends from the high school.
“It’s going to be easy to work with people I know because I’m already familiar with their personalities,” Zach said. “It’s just going to be easier going into a job with people I already know.”
With its customizable drinks, modern twist on classic sodas, and welcoming atmosphere, the Soda Bar is poised to become a popular hangout for teenagers.
